so we climbed the macomb slide and down the 'backside' of macomb to south dix. we pause where the summit is marked by an x chopped into a tree and continue to east dix. on east dix it is not clear if hough or big dix are still possible. we hike back over south dix. we spot the trail to hough. we look at hough and big dix as clouds brush by them. we want to cook before raccoons in the darkness time. our water bottles contain only a few gulps of water. we bailout between macomb and south dix, lilian brook to the red trail, to the elk lake parking lot.
