breakneck ridge

when: april 24th. (left around 1:05p, returned around 5:30p)
where: cold spring, ny
who drove: jj drove
participants: jj and myself.
distance: not sure, over 2 miles round trip (not sure).
food: chicken cutlet on wedge (lettuce, tomato, swiss, mayo, oil, vinegar), water. jj had gatorade.
view/weather: summery, clear/faint clouds - hudson river, storm king mt, bull mountain, catskill range, newberg, beacon, west point military academy, dunderberg island, sugar loaf mountain, other viewable things.
cellphone service: i think, yes.
smoked: blunt/bowl.
trail: white. pretty steep and rocky. a few woods spots. some open rock spots. returned via the stream trail, deviated from the trail at one part.
notes: planned, minus one member (andrew) of planned participants. endured serious headache and hangover symptoms during the initial acsent. felt better after eating. drank a gulp of stream water. didn't become sick.

breakneck ridge

when: april 3rd. (left around 2.30pm returned around 6.40pm)
where: cold spring, ny
who drove: i drove (picked up liz)
participants: liz and myself.
distance: not sure, over 2 miles round trip (not sure).
food: apples, mixed nuts (trail mix), water, (liz's pear got crushed before we left)
view/weather: kind of summery, clear, however, windy - hudson river, storm king mt, taurus mountain, catskill range, newberg, beacon, west point military academy, dunderberg island, sugar loaf mountain, other viewable things.
cellphone service: i think, yes.
smoked: nada.
trail: white. pretty steep and rocky. a few woods spots. some open rock spots.
notes: planned, slightly delayed. saw smoke and emergency service activity near a spot on route 9. a lot of people on the trails. completed the full loop, finishing out north of the tunnel.
elevation: idk.

turkey mountain

when: april 3rd. morning (left around 9am back around 10am)
where: dorktown, ny
who drove: my dad, peter.
participants: my dad (peter) and myself.
distance: 1.3 miles.
food: apples in the beginning, water.
views/weather: seemed smoggy, chilly, blue sky. croton resevoir viewable. parts of yorktown, peekskill, hudson river viewable. parts of hudson highlands, possible, viewable.
cellphone service: n/a.
smoked: nothing.
trail: blue/white. muddy, overflow in parts. one or two steep parts. some blowdown.
notes: spontaneous. saw one older woman going up on our way down.
elevation: ~ 800 ft.

dunderberg mountain

when: march 27th, late afternoon (we left around 2 and finished around 6).
where: hudson highlands, south of bear mt. rockland county, i think.
who drove: liz drove (we drove to liz's house first)
participants: myself, bryan, andrew, big alison, liz
distance: 3 miles (round trip) maybe
food: grapes, apples, oranges, salami sandwich, mixed nuts, water.
views/weather: kind of cold/overcast. views of verplank point, indian point, peekskill, croton, etc. can kind of see the top of the palasades.
notes: we didn't complete the trail or reach the summit.  saw a giant cave.

smoked: m, yes. t, yes.
trail: blue/japanese flag. cutbacks. rocky, lots of roots. flat in some parts, mildly steep in others. was kind of muddy.
